KenchiBlade maintenance scissor kit
Care and maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and to extend the life of your scissors. It is essential you keep them free from dust, hair and chemicals. This will protect your hair tools against chemical corrosion and moisture. Cleaning and oiling regularly keeps the blades clean, screw system lubricated and correct tension at all times.
- Scissor key
- Leather cloth
- Japanese scissor oil
CLEANING
Using a soft cloth, thoroughly wipe your scissors after every cut.
OILING
You must clean and oil your scissors daily to protect them against
rust and chemical deterioration.
How to oil your scissors:
Clean your scissors and, with the blades closed, place one drop of
oil on the top side of the screw. This will lubricate the washer that is
located underneath the screw and help prevent wear.
With the blades open, apply a line of oil to both inner blades.
Add two drops of oil to the pivot area. Open and close the blades
three to five times to push out any debris that is trapped in the pivot
area. Carefully wipe off the excess debris.
TENSION
Correct tension adjustment allows the scissors’ design to function
properly and puts pressure on the blades.
How to check the tension of your scissors:
- Hold your scissors palm up and parallel to the ground.
- Open the blades with the thumb blade only.
- Release the thumb blade and allow it to fall.
If the blade remains 3/4 open, the tension is properly adjusted.
If the blade falls 1/4 open, your tension is too loose.
If the blade stays completely open and is difficult to close, your tension is too tight.
