Our scissors are made from the highest grades of Japanese steel alloys to produce professional products. All scissors come with a minimum warranty of 10-15 years, Damascus scissors come with a lifetime warranty as standard. With this warranty your scissors are 100% guaranteed to be free from any manufacturing defects including craftsmanship and its parts.
Scissors that have been abused, destroyed or damaged by a non Kenchi Blade sharpener or scissors that have been poorly maintained, misused and or over-worn will not be covered by this warranty. It is extremely important to care for your scissors and maintain them accordingly to the outlines in the scissor care guide in order to receive our warranty service.
Scissor Care & Maintenance
Due to the unique blade design, Kenchi Blade scissors must be maintained as outlined below. Care and maintenance is the key element in achieving maximum performance from your scissor. Failure to perform proper care and maintenance on a daily basis will most likely result in a damaged scissor and unsatisfactory performance. Maintained properly, a Kenchi Blade scissor will perform incredibly welland last for many years.
Cleaning
Using a genuine leather cloth, thoroughly wipe your shears and blades after every cut. This will reduce build up of chemicals and debris, which may adversely affect the performance of your scissors throughout your workday. At the end of the day make certain your scissor are thoroughly dry between the blades.
Lubrication
After cleaning and drying your scissor, carefully open to a 90 degree angle. Put one or two drops of oil provided with your scissor into the “joint”. It assists the cleaning process by washing out dirt and debris from under the pivot and leaves a wax like coating. This should be done at least once a workday.
Why Oil and Clean Daily?
Daily oiling and cleaning will enhance the performance and extend the cutting life of your scissor. Regular cleaning and lubrication protects against rust and deterioration from chemical/moisture contact in the salon or barbershop environment, build up of bacteria attracting debris in the interior pivot and blade area, reduces friction from blade movement, and prolongs sharpness.
Adjusting Tension (Balancing)
Adjusting tension is an important part of getting the best results from your scissor. If the tension is too loose, it will allow your scissor to fold the hair. If it is too tight, it will cause unnecessary wear and user fatigue. To test for tension, hold the scissor with the tips pointed upward. Lift one handle up so the blade is in a ninety-degree angle and let the blade fall closed. If the blade falls completely closed the tension is too loose. Rather, it should close about two thirds of the way.
Storage
When your scissors are not being used, keep blades in a closed position. This will reduce the chance of nicking and accidental damage to the blades. Never use magnets to hold scissors in storage. This can magnetise the blades attracting undesirable dust and other particles. How you store your scissor is very important. For adequate protection and ease of travel, you should store your scissor in the case provided. They should be secured in one position. Leather is the material that is most recommended for storage.
Sharpening
Your scissor, if maintained properly, will have a very long lasting edge. When the time does come for re-sharpening, the process must be done carefully through our professional sharpening service that has the facility and experience to sharpen high quality Japanese style scissor. We cannot take responsible if you use another sharpening provider and the scissors have not been correctly serviced. Warranty will be void if improper sharpening damages your scissor.
